Geocaching and Walking in Wales.
This website is intended as a focal point for geocachers living in or visiting the Aberystwyth area. It should also be of interst to anyone who enjoys geocaching, hiking, walking, rambling or just the 'Great Outdoors' in and around Wales.
Don't let the name 'Aber-Cachers' put you off, you don't need to live in Aberystwyth, or even in Wales to become a member. Everyone is welcome but the focus of the site is likely to remain in and around Aberystwyth.
This area has great potential for geocaching and walking whatever your preferences or abilities. There are plenty of cultural and historic places of interest in Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and the other towns in this area. Just to the north of us is Snowdonia National Park where many geocaches already exist. The Cambrian Mountains are within easy reach to the east and the whole of the Ceredigion Coast is packed full of beautiful beaches and hidden coves. penbrokeshire National park is also within relatively easy reach to the south. It really is the perfect base for a walking or geocaching trip.
There are already a wide range of caches from nice easy wheelchair accessible caches to those that require some proper mountain scrambling. The cache density is increasing all the time so you should alwsy be able to find something that interests you.
The forums are the place to go to meet other local geocachers, plan trips to the hills or simply talk about what is on your mind at the moment. If you have any questions about geocaching just ask them in the forums, we're a friendly group and will be happy to help. We also discuss all aspects of walking, hiking and enjoying ourselves in the hills.
