Aber-Cachers Travel Bug Race

I thought it would be good fun to organise an aber-cachers Travel Bug race, and wondered if anyone else would be interested.

I haven't come up with any definite plans / rules yet, but something along the lines of we all get a Travel Bug of our own and then set them off on a particular day. Each one would have instructions attached letting people know it was part of a a race. We then give them 6 months (or whatever time we think best) and the winner is the one that travels the furthest... AtAl. this point we could change the goal of the Travel Bug to get to a particular cache in Aber and we could have a 'return to home' race as well.

All in the name of fun of course.

Al.

I have a friend who sells TB tags very cheaply and doesn't charge for postage. They are under three quid each. If anyone is interested I could ask if he has any and order a job lot.

Sounds like a good idea RK.... They normally cost around £4 with postage so if you can get them for less than £3 I'll have 5!

Oops! I just checked out the price I paid for my TB tag and it was actually £3.80, which is still cheaper than most places. I have not yet been able to contact my friend to get a bulk buy price.

OK I finally caught up with him tonight. The TBs he gets are £4.05 each inc P&P or £11.50 for set of three.

If we want to order as a group he will ask if we can have a bulk discount, so I have requested a discount on 20-25. He will get back to me with a price as he is selling them for someone else.

I gave him a link to this site and he has had a quick look, very impressed :)

Al: He may get in touch with you about a link for the shopping pages, he is a cheap source of geocaching goodies :) He does very cheap ammo cans :D

Cool... That sounds good, if we get a bulk discount..

I can get them for £3.65 each inc P&P if I buy 25, but we'll see what he can do.

I do need to sort out the links page on the site, I just haven't had the time yet. I may add a system that allows people to add their own useful links so that it can be kept nicely up to date and will provide a really useful and comprehensive Geocaching links resource.

Evening all

sorry I forgot to get back to you, RK.

anyway.

If you get together as a group as a one off I can do 25 at £3.50 each plus the postage. So long as to goes to one address and they are not resold.

So £87.50 for 25 tags and £3.50 for p&p. Would have to be a cheque, cannot afford pay pal doing them at that price.

Cheers

Tony

Cheers Mongers. Will have a tally up and get back to you ASAP

OK so can we have final figures for those who definitely want to place an order? So far I have:

Forces of Nature 5
Idle Rocks 2
Jennie M 6
Samurais 3
tortoiseshel l 5

That leaves four. I could probably afford two. Any other takers before we place the order?

OK Samurais have taken the final two.

They work out (inc P&P) at £3.64 each

Dan has offered to send a bank transfer as long as all 25 are confirmed before we order. The TBs will be sent to me and I will distribute them and collect the money for him.

Please can you confirm with me, either in here or by email, ASAP

Yep, lets do it. 5 for Forces-of-Nature please.

Then we can start planning the rules for the great aber-cachers travel bug race! :)
